Arch of Constantine, Rome

Arch of Constantine is one of the most impressive surviving triumphal arches of Ancient Rome, standing beside the Colosseum. Completed in AD 315, the monument was built to celebrate Emperor Constantine the Great’s victory over Maxentius at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in AD 312.

The arch is decorated with magnificent marble reliefs and sculptures, many of which were reused from monuments built during the reigns of earlier emperors. This combination of artwork from different periods makes the Arch of Constantine particularly interesting for visitors exploring Rome’s imperial history.

Its location beside the Colosseum makes it one of the most iconic sights in Rome and a perfect stop while exploring the ancient Roman centre.
